COSMETIC DENTISTRY
Fillings Treatment
Cosmetic dentistry includes fillings. These restore damage from decay. First, decayed material is removed & the affected area is cleaned. Then, the cavity is filled closing spaces where bacteria enter, preventing future decay. Fillings can be made of porcelain, composite plastic resin or dark silver amalgam . Which one is determined by the extent of damage, if you are allergic, the location of the caries & cost.
Tooth Whitening
Full mouth reconstruction is another aspect of cosmetic dentistry. It’s one of the most effective methods to restore severe worn teeth that have suffered reduced vertical dimension.
Although the use of the overlay splint restoration for a trial period allowing the patient to adapt to an increased vertical dimension is the recognized method, the specific protocol from the transitional splint to the fixed reconstruction is yet to be established.
Porcelain Veneers Treatment
Porcelain Veneers Treatment involves permanently bonding customized shells that improve appearance to the front of teeth. Stained enamel from food & drink can be bleached but veneers are a permanent solution for discoloring. They also mask minor orthodontic issues and treat enamel abrasion. Some experience sensitivity for a few days after getting veneers.
Why Veneers are Permanent
Veneers are permanent because the dentist changes the structure of natural teeth to place them. The outer layer of enamel is removed & replaced with veneer.
Composite Veneers
Composite resin is a less expensive than porcelain & is frequently used for veneers. Composite veneers may also be made in a lab with the same process as porcelain veneers. This kind of veneer can be made & placed in a single visit. After preparing & reshaping your teeth, your dentist will choose a shade & sculpt the material directly on your teeth. The material hardens under a special light that bonds it to the enamel. The finishing touch is smoothing & polishing the composite resin to a natural appearance.
Composite veneers require less preparation, cost less & are easier to repair than porcelain & unlike porcelain can be installed in a single appointment. This makes composite veneers an option for younger patients. However, composites may have a shorter lifespan &wear down more easily.
Anterior Teeth Reconstructions Treatment
Full mouth reconstruction is one of the most effective methods in cosmetic dentistry to restore severe worn teeth that have suffered reduced vertical dimension.
Although the use of the overlay splint restoration for a trial period allowing the patient to adapt to an increased vertical dimension is the recognized method, the specific protocol from the transitional splint to the fixed reconstruction is yet to be established. This case report describes a 50-year-old female patient who has severely worn teeth combined with an anterior deep bite and chewing pain. The protocol of the treatment process is described.
